This is our local bistro, and a great option if you find yourself in the Sea Point area.
The restaurant is right on Main Road, in about the centre of the strip, so no sea view. There is a pavement area, which is covered and loosely enclosed when the weather requires. Inside the seats are close together, and the turnover brisk.
La Boheme’s secret is simple food, beautifully cooked at very reasonable prices. R95 will get you 2 courses off the standard menu, R115 for 3. My personal favourite is the pork belly, Lou loves the balsamic beef filet. There is also a tapas menu if you are just stopping for a quick bite.
The wine menu is solid and reasonably priced, and most wines can be ordered by the glass. Service is very snappy and well-informed.
All in all, this is what a Cape Town restaurant should be. If it had the spectacular views, the prices would likely rise, and the quality fall.
